You will be guided by experienced faculty who are longstanding, respected members of the Rhode Island EMDR community and bring deep expertise in applying EMDR therapy to complex trauma.

Overview: This comprehensive EMDR Basic Training is designed for licensed and pre-licensed mental health professionals and 2nd year Masters students seeking a strong foundation in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

Eligibility: Licensed Clinicians: Master’s degree in a mental health field (Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychiatry, Social Work) or related discipline. | Pre-Licensed Clinicians: Master’s degree in the above fields + actively pursuing full licensure. Requires a supervisor letter confirming supervision by a fully licensed clinician and active pursuit of licensure. | Graduate Students: Enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in a mental health field (including Psychiatric Nursing) or related discipline. Requires a supervisor letter with the supervisor’s license information confirming the student is on the licensing track and working under a fully licensed clinician.

Sept. 21-22 (Mon-Tue) 9:00-5:30 (lunch from 1:00-2:00)

Oct 23-24 (Fri-Sat) 9:00-5:30 (lunch from 1:00-2:00)

Nov 2-3 (Mon-Tue) 9:00-5:30 (lunch from 1:00-2:00)

Nov 18-19 (Wed-Thu) 9:00-4:30 (lunch from 12:30-1:30)

Components of the Training: EMDRIA requires 50 hours for EMDR Basic Training. This training provides 51.5 hours of training with extra emphasis on how to assess for and modify EMDR to proceed with work with complex presentations.

Consultation Hours: 10 hours of Consultation hours are included at no extra cost. For your convenience, these hours are embedded in the training days.

Required Text – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy: Basic Principles, Protocols and Procedures. Guilford Press 2017. (separate purchase not included in tuition)

Requirements: Attendance to all days and parts are required to be granted a Basic Training Certificate of completion and CEs. EMDR Basic Training must be completed within 12 months of the training start.

CECs: This program has been approved for Continuing Education Credit Hours by NASW-CT and meets the continuing education criteria for Social Work Licensure renewal. 41.5 continuing education credits (CEC) approved by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-CT). NASW-CT approvals are valid in CT, MA, RI, and VT. NASW-CT CEC approvals apply to the following license types: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PsyD). The course does not offer Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits. It is the sole responsibility of the training participant to verify with their own state licensing or regulatory board whether these continuing education credits will be accepted for their professional license.
